Job summary

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside is seeking a hands-on Food & Beverage Team Leader to deliver friendly, professional service in our busy restaurant and bar.

You will lead by example, support teammates during service, handle order accuracy, upsell hotel offers, and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety.

Applicants must have at least 2 years F&B experience in hotels or venues and be willing to work weekends and public holidays in a rotating roster.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant experience in food and beverage service within a hotel, restaurant or bar environment.
• Demonstrated experience providing high‑quality, guest‑facing service in a busy hospitality setting.
• Good knowledge of beverages, including beer, wine, spirits and cocktails.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• A guest‑focused approach, attention to detail and a positive, professional attitude.
• Good organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities during busy service periods.
• A commitment to food safety, workplace health and safety, hygiene and responsible service of alcohol.
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, efficient and professional food and beverage service in accordance with hotel standards.
• Welcome guests, take orders accurately, serve food and beverages, and ensure timely delivery and presentation.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to support smooth service and minimise delays.
• Assist with accurate billing, payment processing and reconciliation of shift transactions.
• Provide guidance and day‑to‑day support to Food & Beverage team members during service.
• Assist with team briefings, new‑starter induction and maintaining consistent service standards.
• Encourage appropriate upselling and promote hotel offers, products and services.
• Assist with stock control, stocktakes, equipment care and reporting breakages.
• Maintain restaurant and bar cleanliness, food hygiene and responsible service of alcohol standards.
• Respond professionally to guest requests and feedback, escalating operational concerns to the appropriate manager.
• Follow hotel policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and all relevant operational procedures.
