Job summary

Access Community Health in Kaiapoi, South Island, seeks an Experienced Support Worker to assist in people’s homes with daily living activities and care needs. Flexible hours, including mornings, evenings and weekends, are available.

Training is provided during onboarding with ongoing development. Applicants should have health and wellbeing qualifications or relevant experience and be willing to learn and adapt to individual care plans.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience.
  • Spinal injury experience.
  • Stoma management experience.
  • Experience administering prescribed medication.
  • Have right to work in New Zealand and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support in people’s homes, mindful of culture, values and routines.
  • Assist with daily living activities and care needs as required by clients.
  • Support care in the community, including palliative and dementia care when needed.

Experienced Support Worker - Waimakariri

Each Tangata will have high risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as Palliative cares, Bowel cares, Dementia, Mental health, Medication.

You will provide safe, respectful, andperson‑centredsupport in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.

Whakangungu| Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With the added bonusof year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date.You’ll be supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

MōhouAke | About You

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to.

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople‑facingroles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license
