Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking dedicated Support Workers to provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred in-home care for clients in our community. You will assist with daily living activities, adapt to each person’s routines, and honour culture, values, beliefs, and boundaries.

Flexible hours include mornings, evenings, and weekends. Training is provided with ongoing development pathways, and weekend allowances are available for eligible shifts.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Spinal injury care experience is preferred.
  • Stoma management experience is beneficial.
  • Experience administering prescribed medication.
  • Ability to use a hoist and assist with mobility.
  • Commitment to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds.
  • Have a valid driver’s license (full/restricted).
  • Own a smartphone and be able to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients with daily living activities, routines, and boundaries.
  • Respect individual cultures, values, and beliefs while delivering care.

Whakangungu| Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With theadded bonusof year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date.You’llbe supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you are matched to.

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople‑facingroles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license
