Job summary

Access Community Health – Havelock North, North Island is seeking Support Workers to provide in-home, person-centred care. You will assist with daily living, including palliative care, bowel care, dementia, and medication, in alignment with each client’s culture, values, and routines.

We value flexibility with hours (mornings, evenings, and weekends) and support ongoing training, with opportunities for career growth in Kaiāwhina/Support Worker pathways.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Spinal injury experience.
  • Stoma management experience.
  • Experience administering prescribed medication.
  • Full or restricted driver’s license.
  • Own a smartphone.
  • Be willing to learn, reflect and adapt your approach to each person.
  • Experience in caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people-facing roles.
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds.
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, and person-centred support in people’s homes.
  • Support daily living activities including palliative care, bowel care, dementia, mental health, and medication.
  • Respect client culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.
  • Use a smartphone for communication, reporting, and coordination.

Each Tangata will have high risk individual care requirements, and you will support them with all elements of daily living such as Palliative cares, Bowel cares, Dementia, Mental health, Medication.

You will provide safe, respectful, andperson‑centredsupport in people’s homes, being mindful of what matters to them, including their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.

Whakangungu| Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment. With theadded bonus of year-round training with regular refreshers and new modules to keep skills up to date.You’llbe supported through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.

  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or otherpeople‑facingroles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand
  • Full/restricted driver’s license
