Job summary

Access Community Health in Katikati, North Island, New Zealand, is seeking kaiāwhina to support tāngata in their homes with daily living and personal care. No qualifications or prior experience are required, and successful candidates will receive comprehensive paid training.

Flexible hours are available to fit study, family, or other commitments. Weekend shifts are offered with additional pay, and travel time or mileage is compensated.

Qualifications

  • Full/restricted driver’s license.
  • Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Spinal injury experience.
  • Stoma management experience.
  • Experience administering prescribed medication.
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive.
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person.
  • Have experience in caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles.
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds.
  • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs.
  • Own a smartphone.
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, person-centred support in people’s homes, considering culture, values, routines and boundaries.
  • Support tāngata with their individual care needs and daily living activities.
  • Ensure travel time and mileage are compensated when working away from base.

    • Full/restricted driver’s license

      • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
      • Experience administering prescribed medication
      • Love working with people and helping them thrive
      • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
      • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles
      • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
      • Intuitive and responsive to people’s needs

      • Have the right to work in New Zealand

We are currently hiring for the following hours:

  • Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 9:45am - 2:00pm
  • Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 2:00pm - 6:00pm
