Job summary

Geneva Healthcare is seeking an Experienced Support Worker to assist a young boy with complex needs in Stanmore Bay, Auckland. You will work across home, school, and community settings to promote participation, independence, and wellbeing.

You'll join a collaborative team with family, educators, and therapists to provide high-quality care and build a meaningful relationship with the child.

Experienced Support Worker - Stanmore Bay

Geneva Healthcare is a leading provider of in-home and community-based health, rehabilitation, nursing, mental health, and disability support services throughout New Zealand.

We're looking for acaring, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Workerto join the support team of a fun and engaging young boy with complex physical and communication needs.

He is a happy, social child who loves books, music, sensory play, exploring the community, and playing games. He has a wonderful sense of humour, enjoys interacting with people, and brings plenty of smiles to those around him.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you'll provideone-on-one support across home, school, and community settings, helping him participate in daily activities while promoting his independence, wellbeing, and development.

You'll become an important part of a collaborative support team, working alongside his family, school staff, and therapists to provide consistent, high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support participation in school and classroom activities.
  • Assist with personal care while maintaining dignity and respect.
  • Support mobility, positioning, and everyday routines.
  • Assist with communication using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices and other communication methods.
  • Support daily nutrition, hydration, and health routines in accordance with individual care plans and training provided.
  • Encourage participation in learning, play, community outings, and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with family, educators, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Follow individual support plans to provide safe, consistent, and engaging support.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Physically active and confident supporting mobility (no lifting required).
  • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a wider support team.

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
  • Physically able to support mobility and daily activities.
  • Excellent reliability and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow individual support plans.
  • Experience supporting children or people with disabilities.
  • Experience working in schools or educational settings.
  • Experience supporting children with complex physical needs.

Training & Support

Training and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you feel confident in all aspects of the role, including any specialised support required as part of the individual's care plan. You will work within your training, competency, and organisational guidelines at all times.

Shift Timings: Mondays, Tuesdays & Fridays – 8-hour shifts (starting at 8:00 am or 8:30 am)
