Job summary

Access Community Health in New Zealand is hiring support workers to assist clients in their own homes. You will help with daily living activities, provide respectful, person-centered support, and be mindful of each person’s culture, routines and boundaries.

No formal qualifications or prior experience are required, and we offer comprehensive paid training and flexible hours. Weekend shifts add extra pay, and travel time and mileage are paid.

Qualifications

  • No formal qualifications or prior experience required.
  • Full/restricted driver’s licence required.
  • Spinal injury experience preferred.
  • Stoma management and medication administration experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support tāngata with individual care needs and daily living activities in clients’ homes.
  • Provide safe, respectful, person-centred support.
  • Be mindful of what matters to each person, including culture, values, beliefs, routines and boundaries.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive home-care environment.

OurKaiāwhinaSkills Framework training takes place during your first two–four weeks of employment and includes:

  • Support through structured induction, ongoing training, refreshers, and clear development pathways.
  • Online self-directed learning
  • Working alongside abuddytrainer
MōhouAke | About You
  • Full/restricted driver's license
  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Spinal injury experience
  • Stoma Management experience
  • Experienced in the use of a full, standing and two-person hoist
  • Experience administering prescribed medication
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Be willing to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to what matters for each person
  • Have experience in or exposure to caregiving, disability support, aged care, community work, or other people‑facing roles
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Intuitive and responsive to people's needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Have the right to work in New Zealand

We are currently hiring for the following hours:
  • Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 9:45am - 2:00pm
  • Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends - 2:00pm - 6:00pm
