Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Chef in Northland, New Zealand to lead and execute hands-on Indian and intercontinental cuisine. The role combines cooking with preparation planning, menu support, stock management and maintaining high food-quality standards in an established hospitality operation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate provencooking ability, consistent food standards, and reliable kitchen organisation to support daily service.

Qualifications

• Proven professional experience as a Chef.
• Hands-on experience with Indian and intercontinental cuisine.
• Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills.
• Ability to independently organise kitchen preparation and service.
• Understanding of menu planning, stock control and food-cost management.
• Knowledge of foods safety, hygiene and allergen management practices.
• Ability to consistently deliver quality food and presentation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable and organised approach to kitchen responsibilities.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Indian, intercontinental and café-styled dishes.
• Demonstrate consistent professional cooking techniques.
• Plan and organise daily food preparation.
• Maintain consistent recipes, flavours, portions and presentation.
• Support menu planning and development of daily specials.
• Assist with food-cost control and efficient use of ingredients.
• Monitor kitchen stock and support food ordering.
• Coordinate preparation and service with the wider kitchen team.
• Maintain high standards of food quality throughout service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and allergen-management procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen.
• Support and guide other kitchen team members when required.
• Contribute to smooth and efficient kitchen operations during busy periods.
