Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead a large-scale hospitality operation in New Zealand. This permanent, full-time leadership role focuses on delivering high-quality food services, including daily meal production, corporate catering and special events.

You will manage all kitchen operations, develop a skilled culinary team, maintain exceptional food quality and safety standards, and work with modern commercial kitchen equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Cookery qualification or equivalent required.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience managing high-volume commercial kitchen operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all kitchen operations.
• Plan, develop, cost, and deliver high-quality menus.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and compliance standards.
• Supervise, coach, and develop kitchen staff.
• Manage kitchen rosters and daily operations.
• Monitor productivity, food costs, and kitchen performance.
• Prepare and oversee catering for functions and special events.
• Ensure dietary, allergy, and cultural food requirements are met.
• Maintain high presentation and quality standards.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory control.
• Operate efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
• Drive continuous improvement and maintain industry best practices.
