Job summary

Talent Recruit represents a dynamic hotel property in New Zealand seeking an experienced Chef (Asian Cuisine) to join their kitchen leadership team. The role focuses on running a designated kitchen section, supervising juniors, and upholding high hygiene and safety standards.

The successful candidate will have at least two years of commercial kitchen experience, be proficient in Asian cuisine, and hold a culinary qualification.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Proficient in Asian Cuisine.
• Culinary qualification or relevant certification preferred.
• Strong cooking skills with attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Positive team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese (liaising with Mandarin-speaking customers)
• Willing to relocate to New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality dishes within the assigned section.
• Supervise and train junior chefs and kitchen staff.
• Maintain portion control and consistency across all menu items.
• Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented in line with recipes and standards.
• Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene in the assigned section and storage areas.
• Collaborate with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth service.
• Report stock needs, maintenance issues, or operational concerns to seniors.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior Chefs and Kitchen Hands.
• Follow and enforce all food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and workplace safety standards.
• Ensure kitchen staff under supervision maintain cleanliness, grooming, and professional behavior.
• Support the team in following company's safety, fire, and emergency procedures.
