Job summary

Civil Construction Ltd in Queenstown is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join our Earthworks, Drainage or General Contracting teams. You will be hands-on with excavators (5tn–20tn), preparing land for diverse projects and ensuring safe, efficient site operations.

Qualifications

• 3 years Experience in the Civil Works industry or similar.
• A WTR endorsement.
• A Full Class 2 licence.

• A safety-first mindset.
• NZ Citizen, Resident, or hold a current Open NZ Work Visa.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate excavators (5tn–20tn) and related heavy machinery.
• Prepare and shape construction sites, move and compact earth and materials.
• Work across Earthworks, Drainage or General Contracting teams as needed.

Excavator Operators are responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery to prepare and shape construction sites. They play a critical role in civil projects by moving, excavating, leveling, and compacting earth, rock, and other materials to create stable foundations for infrastructure.

Here is an idea of what your days would look like:

As an Excavator Operator in our Earthworks, Drainage, OR General Contracting team (depending on your preference), you'll be hands-on, preparing and shaping the land for a huge variety of projects. From retaining walls to residential and commercial developments, you'll be the one making the ground work. This means you'll be busy with excavation, filling, carting, and compaction.

We're looking for experienced operators of these machines:

• Excavators (5tn - 20tn) skilled in all areas of Civil Construction
• Rubber Tyre Excavator

What You'll Need

To hit the ground running, you'll generally need:

• 3 years Experience in the Civil Works industry or something similar
• A WTR endorsement
• A Full Class 2 licence
• A flexible attitude and a strong work ethic
• A safety-first mindset
• To be a NZ Citizen, Resident, or hold a current Open NZ Work Visa

Nice-to-haves (but not essential):

• Class 4 Licence
• Compaction knowledge & experience
• Experience driving trucks or other machinery
• NDM (Nuclear Density Meter) Testing Certification
