Job summary

Come and join our dynamic and supportive team as Executive Support to the General Manager, Sector Insights and Sector Insights leadership team.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in enabling senior leaders to operate at their best. In Sector Insights, we play a critical role in supporting justice sector leaders with high-quality insights and advice to improve outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

As Executive Support, you will sit at the centre of how the Sector Insights leadership team operates—supporting the General Manager and managers to stay focused on priorities, deliver on key commitments, and work effectively across the Ministry.

This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to senior leadership, build strong relationships across the Ministry, and utilitise your organisational, communication, and judgement skills in a high-trust environment.

In this role, you will provide proactive, high-quality executive and administrative support across Sector Insights. Key responsibilities include:

Executive support to GM

• Manage the GM's diary, workflows, and priorities
• Anticipate needs and ensure the GM is well prepared with timely, accurate information and briefings

Coordination and delivery

• Organise meetings, workshops, and team activities, including logistics, materials, and follow-up actions
• Support planning rhythms (e.g. leadership meetings, group priorities, key deliverables)
• Ensure information flows effectively between leaders and across the group

Document and information management

• Prepare high-quality correspondence, presentations, and documents
• Maintain strong document management practices to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and well presented
• Support consistent use of systems and tools across the team

Team and organisational contribution

• Work closely with the wider executive support network to provide cover and consistency of support
• Contribute to a positive, connected, and high-performing Sector Insights team culture
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working

Must-haves

• Experience in executive support, administration, or coordination roles

Nice to have

The remuneration band for this role is $60,729 to $80,794 – while the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.
