Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

  • Provide trusted executive support to the Transport & Infrastructure Director
  • Work closely with senior leaders and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Permanent, full-time

This is an opportunity to provide high-quality executive support to the Director of a new and significant Transport and Infrastructure Directorate within Auckland Council. As Executive Assistant to the Director, you’ll be a trusted and highly organised partner, helping keep a busy and complex executive environment running smoothly and ensuring the Director is well prepared, informed and focused on the priorities that matter most.

You’ll manage a dynamic diary, correspondence and competing demands, anticipating what’s needed and making sure the right information is available at the right time. You’ll also play an important role in resolving issues and managing disruptions, coordinating across the directorate and building strong relationships with staff and stakeholders. This is a busy, varied role where your judgement, discretion, organisation and ability to build trust will make a real difference to the effectiveness of a new directorate and its leadership.

We’re looking for an experienced Executive Assistant or senior administrator who is highly organised, adaptable and confident operating in a complex and fast-paced environment. You'll bring strong interpersonal and written communication skills, sound judgement and a strong eye for detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively while maintaining a high standard of service.

You’ll have experience supporting senior leaders, including managing a complex diary, coordinating competing demands and handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong Microsoft Office capability, particularly Outlook, Word and PowerPoint, is essential. Experience working in a political environment would be advantageous, as would an ability to quickly understand and manage information, resolve issues and establish effective relationships across a large organisation.

This role provides the opportunity to work closely with a senior leader as a new and significant Transport and Infrastructure Directorate takes shape within Auckland Council. It offers a varied and fast-paced environment where your organisation, judgement and ability to build trusted relationships will contribute directly to the effective running of the Director’s office.

Auckland Council is an equal opportunity employer (EOE) and we are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application to assist you through the recruitment process.
