Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking exam invigilators to supervise end-of-semester exams for students with approved Special Conditions. You will help maintain security and integrity of the exam environment and support students during a stressful part of their studies.

You will set up rooms, enforce rules, monitor behaviour, guide students to seats, handle queries, manage attendance and late arrivals, escort breaks, detect unauthorised materials, and deliver and collect scripts.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and integrity are essential.
• Able to adapt to different exam modes (on campus, paper-based, remote online).
• Availability during the exam period.

Responsibilities

• Set up the exam room with papers, stationery and equipment as required.
• Implement exam rules and monitor student behaviour throughout the session.
• Assist before, during and after exams by directing students to seats and answering queries.
• Supervise to ensure no communication between students and respond to irregularities.
• Check attendance and record late arrivals.
• Escort candidates on washroom breaks as needed.
• Detect unauthorised materials and uphold academic integrity.
• Deliver and collect exam scripts at the start and end of exams.
• Adapt to multiple exam delivery modes throughout the day.

We are seeking to recruit exam room invigilators to provide supervision during end of semester exams, for students who have approved Special Conditions.

These are students who have either a:

• Temporary disability
• Condition that affects their ability to sit exams under the prescribed conditions.

You will be responsible for supervising and ensuring compliance during exam sessions to ensure the security and integrity of the exam environment and you will play an integral role in assisting students during a particularly stressful part of their studies.

You will hold integrity in high regard, pay close attention to detail and be able to remain vigilant for prolonged periods. You will be able to adapt to mixed modes of exam delivery, including on campus digital exams, traditional paper-based exams and remote, online invigilation.

You will be responsible for:

• Setting up the exam room by placing exam papers, stationery and equipment at desks in accordance with procedures and spacing requirements.
• Implementing exam rules and regulations and remaining attentive throughout the exam, monitoring student behaviour.
• Assisting before, during and after the exam by directing students to their seats, advising them about possessions permitted in the exam room, and handling queries raised.
• Supervising carefully, making sure that students do not communicate with one another during the exam, and responding to any irregularities immediately.
• Checking attendance during exams and recording details of late arrivals.
• Escorting candidates on washroom breaks as required.
• Detecting any unauthorised materials inside the exam room and ensuring that academic integrity is upheld at all times.
• Delivering and collecting exam scripts carefully at the start and end of the exam in accordance with procedures.
• Be able to adapt to different modes of exams throughout the day and/or exam period.

You will need to be available as needed throughout the exam period.
