Job summary

Construction & Technical Recruitment – Wanaka, South Island is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its Southern Lakes team. The role focuses on pricing and project costs, working closely with onsite teams and management to deliver accurate pricing on metal roofing and cladding projects.

You will price accurately, document clearly, and manage commercial aspects of projects while building strong client relationships and supporting a proactive health and safety culture.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in metal roofing estimating or quantity surveying.
• Solid understanding of roofing and cladding systems.
• Strong numerical and quality-checking mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate take-offs and estimates for metal roofing and cladding projects.
• Produce detailed quotes with scope, exclusions and project-specific requirements.
• Set up jobs and maintain accurate project records.
• Follow up on quotes and support new business opportunities.
• Provide technical input and keep clients and delivery teams informed.
• Manage invoicing, progress claims and job cost tracking.

An established specialist in metal roofing, cladding and spouting is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its Southern Lakes team.
The business has a strong focus on quality workmanship and building lasting client relationships. This is an opportunity to take ownership of pricing and project costs, working closely with the people delivering the work.

The role

You will work alongside the Operations Manager, onsite teams and clients, helping ensure projects are accurately priced, clearly documented and commercially well managed.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate take-offs and estimates for metal roofing and cladding projects
• Producing detailed quotes with clear scope, tags, exclusions and project-specific requirements
• Setting up jobs and maintaining accurate project records
• Following up on quotes and supporting new business opportunities
• Providing technical input and keeping clients and delivery teams informed
• Managing invoicing, progress claims and job cost tracking
• Identifying cost variances early and helping resolve issues
• Supporting a practical, proactive approach to health and safety

What we're looking for

You'll bring at least three years' experience in metal roofing estimating or quantity surveying, supported by a sound understanding of roofing and cladding systems.

You'll also have:

• Strong numerical skills and a thorough approach to checking your work
• Confidence using relevant estimating and pricing systems
• Clear communication skills and the ability to build good working relationships
• A practical approach to solving problems and anticipating challenges
• The organisation and initiative to manage your workload and follow things through
