Job summary

Placements24's client in the consumer goods sector seeks a diligent Junior Legal Officer for a Queenstown-based, entry-level role. A legal graduate or early-career professional will support the legal team with compliance work and policy development, helping ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.

You will conduct basic legal research, assist with risk assessments and training initiatives, maintain compliance records, and liaise with internal teams and external providers.

Qualifications

• LLB or relevant legal qualification.
• 0-3 years post-qualification experience in a legal or compliance role.
• Understanding of South African corporate and consumer law is beneficial.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tasks.
• Proactive attitude and a willingness to take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring and implementing regulatory compliance programs.
• Review and update policies and procedures for legal alignment.
• Maintain compliance records and documentation.
• Conduct basic legal research on compliance matters.
• Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Support risk assessments and compliance training initiatives.
• Process and manage legal documentation and correspondence.
