Job summary

NZTA | Waka Kotahi is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect, Customer and Digital to lead the architecture direction across our Customer and Digital technology domains. You will define long-term technology direction, influence investment decisions and ensure our digital capabilities evolve coherently and sustainably.

The role collaborates with architecture, product, delivery and technology teams to shape platforms, channels and enabling capabilities that deliver customer-focused services

Qualifications

• Significant experience in enterprise, solution or technology architecture.
• Experience developing technology strategies, target states and roadmaps.
• Strong knowledge of customer engagement platforms and digital ecosystems.
• Experience across complex product, platform and delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Ability to balance long-term direction with practical delivery.
• Experience identifying opportunities for simplification and platform reuse.
• Strong systems thinking, analysis and problem-solving.
• Ability to translate complex technology concepts into clear guidance.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.
• Comfort working across organisational boundaries with ambiguity.
• Knowledge of Te Ao Maori and willingness to develop understanding.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture direction for the Customer and Digital technology domains.
• Develop target states, roadmaps and strategic technology guidance.
• Shape the evolution of customer experience platforms and enabling capabilities.
• Influence technology investment, platform decisions and priorities.
• Provide clear architectural direction to support delivery of digital products and services.
• Identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation and reuse.
