Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect, Customer and Digital to lead architecture across our Customer and Digital technology domains.

You will define long-term technology direction, influence investment decisions and ensure digital capabilities evolve in a coherent, scalable and sustainable way, shaping platforms, capabilities and the wider technology landscape supporting NZTA's customer-focused products and services.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in enterprise, solution or technology architecture.
• Experience developing technology strategies, target states and architecture roadmaps.
• Strong knowledge of customer engagement platforms, digital services, web and mobile ecosystems, integrations.
• Experience working across complex product, platform and delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic direction with practical delivery needs.
• Experience identifying opportunities for simplification and platform reuse.
• Strong systems thinking, analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex technology into clear, actionable guidance.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture direction for the Customer and Digital domains.
• Develop target states, roadmaps and strategic technology guidance.
• Shape the evolution of customer experience platforms and digital channels.
• Influence technology investments and platform decisions.
• Provide clear architectural direction for digital product delivery.
• Identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation and reuse.
• Guide technology standards and architecture practices across domains.
• Partner with product, delivery and technology teams to align delivery with strategy.
• Manage cross-domain dependencies and technology risks.
