Job summary

Beyond Recruitment – Wellington is seeking a Water Engineer to plan, design, and deliver water, wastewater, and stormwater projects in New Zealand. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop practical and sustainable solutions for public and private sector clients, with opportunities for professional growth and chartership support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in water infrastructure design and delivery.
  • Experience across water supply, wastewater, stormwater, or three waters projects.
  • Knowledge of New Zealand standards, guidelines, and council requirements.
  • Experience using water modelling and design software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within project teams.
  • Membership or progress toward Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status would be advantageous, but not essential.

  • Undertake hydraulic and hydrological assessments and modelling.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Support project delivery from concept design through to construction.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, environmental, and planning teams.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with project management, including programme, budget, and risk management activities.
  • Provide technical input into proposals and business development opportunities.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

The Opportunity

As a Water Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. Working alongside a team of experienced professionals across multiple disciplines, you will help develop practical and sustainable solutions that support resilient communities and environmental outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects.

About You

You will be a proactive and solutions-focused engineer who enjoys working collaboratively and building strong client relationships.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in water infrastructure design and delivery.
  • Experience across water supply, wastewater, stormwater, or three waters projects.
  • Knowledge of relevant New Zealand standards, guidelines, and council requirements.
  • Experience using water modelling and design software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
