Job summary

UCC Coffee Australia & New Zealand is looking for a Night Shift Engineer to keep Roastery operations running smoothly through the night, handling breakdowns across mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems. The role involves software programming, changeovers, maintenance, and other engineering tasks as directed by the Engineering Manager.

You will contribute to maintaining product quality and system efficiency while supporting a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, night shift, at The Roastery in

Qualifications

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment, ideally automated packing operations.
  • Mechanical engineering experience and aptitude.
  • Strong communication and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead prompt and safe responses to equipment service needs or breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and clear communication with Production team.
  • Support the delivery of the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme in line with supplier recommendations, ensuring all preventative work is completed to standard.
  • Optimise equipment performance through standard operating procedures, ensuring product quality, system efficiency, and KPIs.

This role is key to keeping our plant operations running smoothly throughout the night shift. You’ll manage breakdowns across mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment, including software programming, as well as changeovers, maintenance and other engineering requirements as directed by the Engineering Manager.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead prompt and safe responses to equipment service needs or breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining clear communication with our Production team.
  • Support the delivery of the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme in line with supplier recommendations, ensuring all preventative work is completed to standard.
  • Optimise equipment performance through standard operating procedures, ensuring product quality, system efficiency, and achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Conduct and document risk assessments for processes and tasks, ensuring hazards are identified and controls implemented.
What You’ll Bring
  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment, ideally within automated packing operations, with a solid understanding of maintenance, reliability and plant performance.
  • Mechanical engineering experience and aptitude.
  • Strong communication skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
