Job summary

Contact Energy in Wellington is seeking a data‑savvy analyst for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract within Market Development & Optimisation. You will support Trading and wholesale, applying quantitative analysis to pricing, reporting, and commercial insights.

The role requires 2–3 years in data/analytical work, Python or R, and strong attention to detail with stakeholder collaboration. Energy market experience is a plus; flexible, hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of data analysis, quantitative analysis, or analytical problem‑solving in a commercial or professional setting.
• Coding capability with Python, R, or similar.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex information and requirements.
• Commercial awareness and interest in how analysis informs business decisions.
• Relevant qualification in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Science, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Apply quantitative analysis to support pricing activities, energy agreements, and commercial decision‑making.
• Help develop and expand reporting that supports sales activities and channel management strategy.
• Partner with stakeholders across Trading and wholesale to translate complex information into clear insights.
• Contribute to development of pricing tools, reporting processes, and systems across the Trading group.
• Work across a mix of technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and reporting to support decision‑making.
