Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for an Emergency Medicine Registrar in Nelson Hospital. This fixed-term (6 or 12 months), full-time position offers day, evening and night shifts within a busy ED and a multidisciplinary team delivering emergency care.
You will assess, treat and disposition patients, may cover non-ED runs, and contribute to quality reviews while pursuing Rural/Regional ACEM training. Applicants must be Trainee with ACEM and eligible for MCNZ registration.

As an Emergency Medicine Registrar, you will assist indelivering Emergency Medicine to patients working across a multidisciplinaryteam and be responsible for assessment, treatment and disposition of patients.
Some non-ED runs may be available and include Cardiology,Orthopaedics and General Medicine. There will be emergency roster shiftpatterns - AM, mid, PM and night shifts plus weekend shifts.
The hours of work are 8.00AM to 5.00PM (day-shift); 12.00PMto 9.00PM (mid-shift); 4.00PM to 1.00AM (evening-shift); 11.00PM to 8.00AM(night-shift). There is no on-call but there will be additional duties you mightbe offered to pick up.

The Emergency Department (ED) currently sees over 31,000patients per year and is accredited for 12 months of Rural/Regional training byACEM. The case mix is varied and covers the entire spectrum of emergencymedicine including trauma and paediatrics.
You will join a highly motivated and experienced team thatincludes seven emergency physicians and experienced ED senior medical officers,dedicated nursing staff and allied health.
