Job summary

Gallagher is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Hamilton to design, develop and support embedded software in an agile team collaborating with hardware engineers, product teams and security specialists. You’ll work with embedded Linux and RTOS platforms on ARM-based silicon, contribute to secure boot and cryptography discussions, and help deliver dependable solutions with long lifecycles.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' commercial software development experience.
• Strong Embedded C/C++ development skills.
• Knowledge of digital electronics, microprocessors and embedded systems.
• Experience with debugging tools and version control systems.
• Experience with automated testing and software quality practices.
• Understanding of multi-threaded and asynchronous applications.
• Exposure to board bring-up, driver development or embedded Linux environments.
• Python and/or Ruby experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing and maintaining embedded software components and features.
• Collaborating with hardware engineers on board bring-up, debugging and software integration.
• Contributing to requirements, solution design and technical documentation.
• Analysing software performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting existing products through troubleshooting and technical problem solving.
• Participating in code reviews, automated testing and quality improvement initiatives.
• Estimating work, managing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes within agile teams.
• Continuously developing your technical capability and contributing to engineering best practice.
