Gallagher is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Hamilton to design, develop and support embedded software close to hardware in an agile team. You’ll work with embedded Linux/RTOS on ARM-based silicon, contribute to secure boot, cryptography considerations and CI-driven testing to deliver robust, long-lifecycle solutions for security products.
Join a global tech company that values collaboration, craftsmanship and continuous improvement, with hybrid work options and opportunities to grow
Our purpose at Gallagher is ‘Protect what matters most’ and we live it every day, whether that’s protecting the world’s highest security environments or agricultural businesses, we care deeply about our people, their families, and our wider communities.
Gallagher Security is on a mission to unlock more value for our customers through the power of our people and solutions - and right now is a pivotal moment in our evolution. We’re scaling with intent, driving an incredible growth trajectory with innovation and customer impact at the heart of everything we do. With operations across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Africa, the USA, Canada, and Europe and exports to over 140 countries we’re building globally focused career pathways right here in New Zealand.
As we expand our Hamilton-based teams, this is your chance to be part of a true Kiwi tech success story making a global impact. If you’re driven by passion and purpose to protect what matters most, come help shape the future of what’s possible with us.
Join Gallagher as an Embedded Software Engineer and help power our world-class security solutions. Working in an agile product team, you’ll design, develop, test and support embedded software, collaborating with hardware engineers, architects and product teams to solve complex challenges and deliver technology trusted by customers worldwide.
You’ll be working close to the hardware: embedded Linux and RTOS platforms on ARM-based silicon, board bring-up and debugging alongside our electronics engineers, and modern C++ in a codebase supported by robust CI pipelines and automated testing.
Because security is the product, not a feature bolted on, secure boot, hardware-backed key storage, and cryptography are part of the design conversation from day one. These products have long lifecycles, with devices shipped today expected to remain reliable and trustworthy in the field for a decade or more. This shapes how we think about quality, upgradability, and technical debt.
You're a practical problem-solver who thrives on working close to the hardware and developing robust embedded solutions. You bring a collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to everything you do.
You’ll be part of a global, future-focused organisation where creativity and innovation are valued and supported. Working in an environment driven by collaboration, innovation, passion, craftsmanship and mutual respect, you’ll help achieve our team purpose to translate vision into exceptional creations.
