Job summary

Skills Group is seeking an experienced Electrotechnology Trainer to join our Trades Training team at the Highbrook campus in Auckland, NZ. The role focuses on developing, delivering and assessing industry short courses across electrical theory, practical skills, regulations and emerging technologies, including PV solar systems.

You'll work with candidates pursuing NZ Electrical Registration and industry professionals seeking to upskill, delivering training in PV solar technology and broader

Qualifications

  • NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence.
  • Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to obtain with Skills Group support.
  • NZ Trade Certificate or National/New Zealand Certificate (Level 4) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and assess engaging electrotechnology short courses, including PV solar systems.
  • Facilitate classroom and practical training across solar, electrical theory, practice and regulations.
  • Develop concise training materials, presentations and hands-on learning activities.
  • Assess learner performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.
  • Collaborate with trainers and subject matter experts to develop and review training content and assessments.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, regulations and relevant New Zealand Standards.

Ready to use your electrical expertise in a different way? Skills Group is looking for an experienced Electrotechnology Trainer to join our Trades Training team at our Highbrook campus.

Internally, this position is titled Electrotechnology Tutor, with the role focused on developing, delivering and assessing industry short courses across electrical theory, practical skills, regulations and emerging technologies, including PV solar systems.

You'll work with a mix of candidates seeking New Zealand Electrical Registration and experienced industry professionals looking to upskill and stay current. This includes delivering training in PV solar technology and installation, alongside broader electrotechnology topics.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver and assess engaging electrotechnology short courses, including training in PV solar systems.
  • Facilitate classroom and practical training across solar, electrical theory, practice and regulations.

What We're Looking For
  • NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence - an Inspector's Licence would be advantageous.
  • Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to obtain these with Skills Group's full support as part of your professional development.
  • A New Zealand Trade Certificate or National/New Zealand Certificate (Level 4), or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, hold or be willing to work towards this with Skills Group's support as part of your professional development.
  • A minimum of 5 years' electrotechnology industry experience, with PV solar installation experience highly regarded.
  • Previous people management or supervisory experience, with strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to adapt training to different learning styles.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with confidence using Microsoft systems including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
