Job summary

Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill is seeking five Electrical Tutors to help train the next generation of electricians amid major regional projects.

You will teach Electrical Trades to full-time students and contribute to workplace readiness, student success and curriculum development.

If you bring strong industry experience and a passion for education, SIT offers a supportive team, professional development and a pathway to teaching qualifications.

Qualifications

  • A recognised Electrical Trade Qualification.
  • A current EWRB Practising Licence.
  • Strong industry experience and commitment to high standards.
  • Teaching experience is advantageous; SIT will support successful applicants to gain teaching qualifications.

Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is seeking FIVE experienced and passionateElectricalTutors to join our team and play a vital role in developing the workforce that will support these transformational projects.

About the Role

You will teachElectricalTrades programmes to full-time students and secondary-tertiary learners at our Invercargill campus.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver engaging, industry-relevantelectricaltrades education.
  • Take responsibility for the management of teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Foster practical skills and workplace readiness.

Student Success

  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help learners achieve their goals.
  • Complete administrative requirements associated with programme delivery.

Professional Development

  • Maintain vocational currency within theelectricalindustry.
  • Continue developing teaching and assessment skills.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review, evaluation, and improvement of programmes to ensure graduates meet industry needs.

About You

You are an experiencedelectricalprofessional who wants to give back to the industry and help develop future tradespeople.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A recognisedElectricalTrade Qualification.
  • A current EWRB Practising Licence.
  • Strong industry experience and a commitment to high standards.

Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not essential. SIT will support successful applicants to gain teaching qualifications through theNew Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 5).
