Job summary

Skills Group is seeking an experienced Electrotechnology Trainer to join our Trades Training team at Highbrook campus. You’ll develop, deliver and assess industry short courses across electrical theory, PV solar systems and regulations, targeting candidates pursuing NZ Electrical Registration and professionals upskilling.

You’ll train a mix of learners, deliver engaging sessions, develop materials, assess progress and stay current with NZ Standards and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence.
• Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to obtain these with full support as part of professional development.
• NZ Trade Certificate or NZ Certificate (Level 4) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years' electrotechnology industry experience, with PV solar installation experience highly regarded.
• Previous people management or supervisory experience, with strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to adapt training to different learning styles.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Internally, this position is titled Electrotechnology Tutor, with the role focused on developing, delivering and assessing industry short courses across electrical theory, practical skills, regulations and emerging technologies, including PV solar systems.

You’ll work with a mix of candidates seeking New Zealand Electrical Registration and experienced industry professionals looking to upskill and stay current. This includes delivering training in PV solar technology and installation, alongside broader electrotechnology topics.

What you’ll be doing:

What we’re looking for:

NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence - an Inspector's Licence would be advantageous.

Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to obtain these with Skills Group's full support as part of your professional development.

A New Zealand Trade Certificate or National/New Zealand Certificate (Level 4), or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, hold or be willing to work towards this with Skills Group’s support as part of your professional development.

A minimum of5 years' electrotechnology industry experience, with PV solar installation experience highly regarded.

Previous people management or supervisory experience, with strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to adapt training to different learning styles.

Strong organisation and time-management skills, with confidence using Microsoft systems including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
