Job summary

Skills Group is seeking an experienced Electrotechnology Trainer to join our Trades Training team at Highbrook campus. You’ll develop, deliver and assess industry short courses across electrical theory, PV solar systems and regulations, targeting candidates pursuing NZ Electrical Registration and professionals upskilling.

You’ll train a mix of learners, deliver engaging sessions, develop materials, assess progress and stay current with NZ Standards and emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • NZ Electrical Registration with a current Practising Licence.
  • Unit Standards 4098 and 11551, or willingness to obtain these with full support as part of professional development.
  • NZ Trade Certificate or NZ Certificate (Level 4) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' electrotechnology industry experience, with PV solar installation experience highly regarded.
  • Previous people management or supervisory experience, with strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to adapt training to different learning styles.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and assess engaging electrotechnology short courses, including training in PV solar systems.
  • Facilitate classroom and practical training across solar, electrical theory, practice and regulations.
  • Develop concise training materials, presentations and hands-on learning activities.
  • Assess learner performance and provide constructive feedback to support skill development.
  • Collaborate with trainers and subject matter experts to develop and review training content and assessments.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, regulations and relevant New Zealand Standards.
