Trident Electronics is seeking an experienced Electronics Service Technician to join our team in New Plymouth, Central Taranaki. This is a full-time position based in our workshop and client locations. As an Electronics Service Technician, you will be at the forefront of diagnosing, repairing and servicing a wide range of electronic equipment and systems. This role is essential to our business operations, ensuring that our clients receive prompt and professional technical support whilst maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
Diagnose faults and malfunctions in electronic equipment using testing equipment and technical knowledge
Repair and service electronic devices, components and systems to restore full functionality
Perform preventative maintenance on electronic equipment to extend lifespan and reduce downtime
Test repaired equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational requirements
Provide technical support and advice to clients regarding equipment operation and maintenance
Document all work undertaken, including fault diagnosis, repairs completed and parts replaced
Maintain workshop safety standards and keep workspaces organised and efficient
Order replacement parts and manage inventory of electronic components
Liaise with clients to understand their technical needs and provide solutions
Stay current with developments in electronics technology and service techniques
What we're looking for
Formal qualification in electronics, electrical technology or a related technical field (Level 3 or equivalent or higher)
Minimum 3 years' experience in electronics repair, servicing or maintenance within a professional environment
Proficiency in using diagnostic testing equipment and electronic measurement instruments
Strong knowledge of circuit boards, components, soldering and electronic systems
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical faults
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks whilst meeting deadlines
Strong communication skills and a professional approach to customer service
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites in the Taranaki region
Health and Safety awareness and commitment to maintaining safe working practices
Experience with specific electronics sectors such as industrial control systems, consumer electronics or telecommunications is advantageous
