  • Electronics Technician - Component-Level Fault Finding
  • Excellent soldering and PCB repair skills required
  • Work across a huge variety of electronic systems

Are you the person who can look at a circuit board and work out what's actually gone wrong?

Do you enjoy the challenge of tracing a fault through a circuit, testing components, following tracks and connections, and figuring out the answer when there's no schematic, no service manual, and nobody to tell you where to look?

About Us

At Industrial Electronic, we specialize in component-level repairs on almost any type of electronic system, no matter the size, age, or industry. From a damaged connector or dead LCD screen to a Windows XP control PC that won't boot, our team has the experience and tools to bring it back to life.

Our technicians are highly skilled problem-solvers, combining electrical, mechanical, and software knowledge to diagnose faults that others can't. Whether it's a power supply, control system, instrumentation board, or communication module, we find the problem, repair it properly, and test it thoroughly.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be diagnosing and repairing electronic faults at board and component level, including:

  • Finding faults on complex electronic control boards.
  • Diagnosing problems without relying on schematics or manufacturer support.
  • Tracing electrical paths from connectors, pins and tracks through a circuit to locate the source of a fault.
  • Identifying faulty components such as transistors, diodes, capacitors, resistors, ICs and other electronic devices.
  • Finding everything from bad solder joints and damaged tracks to failed or intermittent components.
  • Testing components and circuits using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Removing, replacing and reworking components to an excellent standard.
  • Using logical fault-finding combined with practical intuition to determine what is happening within a circuit.
  • Testing completed repairs and ensuring equipment is returned fully functional.
  • Communicating with customers about faults and repairs when required.
  • Packing and preparing repaired equipment for return.

This isn't a role where you'll simply be following a repair manual. Sometimes you'll have to work it out for yourself!

About you

We're looking for someone who genuinely understands electronics, rather than someone who has simply worked around electronic equipment. Maybe you've been pulling apart electronics and figuring out how they work since you were young. Maybe you're the person friends and family bring their broken electronics to because you can somehow find the fault nobody else can.

You might not have followed a traditional electronics career path. That's okay. We're interested in people who can think differently, solve problems and demonstrate genuine electronic fault-finding ability.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience fault-finding and repairing PCBs at component level.
  • Excellent soldering and rework skills.
  • A strong understanding of electronic components and their functions.
  • The ability to follow and trace electrical circuits logically.
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical thinking.
  • The ability to fault-finding without always having a schematic or predefined repair procedure.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Patience and tenacity when dealing with difficult or intermittent faults.
  • A genuine curiosity about how electronic systems work.
  • The confidence to investigate, test, make a hypothesis and prove whether you're right.
In return, we can offer
  • A modern, fully equipped electronics repair laboratory.
  • Access to high-quality diagnostic, soldering and test equipment.
  • A wide variety of challenging electronic repair work.
  • The opportunity to work on repairs that often have no obvious answer.
  • A team of highly skilled technicians who enjoy solving difficult problems.
  • Opportunities to develop your skills across a broad range of electronic systems.
  • Exposure to ongoing R&D, testing and development work.
  • The opportunity to make a real environmental difference by repairing and reusing equipment rather than replacing it.

If you're someone who can pick up a circuit board, start asking "what should this circuit be doing?", and then methodically work backwards until you find the component that's causing the problem, we'd love to talk!
