Turbo Staff is assisting a well-established New Zealand facilities services organisation in recruiting an experienced Electrical Manager to lead electrical operations across Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga. The role reports to the General Manager and focuses on strategic leadership, commercial performance and sustainable growth.

You will drive regional revenue, manage budgets and develop new markets while leading dispersed electrical teams to deliver high-quality, safe and compliant services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Auckland electrical team and support Hamilton/Tauranga Electrical Managers.

  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of maintenance, minor works and capital projects.
  • Own regional revenue, budgets, forecasts and profitability metrics.
  • Build relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure safe, compliant and high-standard delivery of projects and contracts.

Job description

Our client is a well-established New Zealand facilities services organisation delivering essential electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building services across a range of commercial and industrial environments.

With established operations across the upper north island, and a strong focus on service delivery, customer relationships, safety, and sustainable growth, they are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Electrical Manager to lead and grow electrical operations across Auckland, Hamilton, and Tauranga.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Electrical Manager will have overall responsibility for the strategic leadership, commercial performance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth of the Northern Region.

The role will lead the Auckland electrical team while providing leadership and direction to the Electrical Managers in Hamilton and Tauranga.

A key focus will be on developing existing operations while identifying opportunities to establish new services, markets, and branches. You will be expected to bring a hands-on and commercially focused approach to transforming developing operations into mature, profitable businesses.

Responsibilities
  • Leading the Auckland electrical team and providing support, direction, and accountability to the Hamilton and Tauranga Electrical Managers.
  • Driving business growth through new markets, service offerings, customers, and commercial opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of work across maintenance, minor works, and capital replacement projects.
  • Taking accountability for regional revenue, profitability, budgets, forecasting, and overall commercial performance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to establish, rebuild, or expand electrical operations across existing and new markets.
  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing electrical teams and future leaders.
  • Ensuring projects and service contracts are delivered safely, efficiently, commercially, and to a consistently high standard.
  • Working collaboratively with internal HVAC, Plumbing, Business Development, HSEQ, and wider operational teams.
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation, operational efficiency, and best-practice processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, quality, and health & safety requirements.
  • Developing a culture of accountability, customer focus, professional development, and high performance.
  • Contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business and supporting company-wide objectives.
Skills And Experience
  • Proven experience in a senior electrical management, regional management, branch management, or operations leadership role.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience managing budgets, profitability, forecasting, and business performance.
  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand electrical services, facilities management, construction, or contracting environment.
  • Proven ability to grow a business, develop new markets, and generate sustainable revenue opportunities.
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of electrical maintenance, minor works, project delivery, and capital replacement programmes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • A strategic mindset combined with the ability to remain hands-on and operationally involved.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, quality, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Commercially driven, proactive, and confident in identifying and converting new business opportunities.
  • Ability to create accountability and performance across teams while fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Relevant electrical trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification is preferred.
  • Senior regional leadership opportunity with significant commercial responsibility.
