The Client is seeking an Electrical Team Lead in New Zealand to provide day-to-day technical leadership across electricians, technicians and apprentices. You will supervise fault resolution, quality assurance and safety, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating maintenance projects.

Reporting to Operations Manager, you will drive continuous improvement, oversee UPS and critical power systems, and ensure compliance with legislation and standards on client sites.

Position Summary

The Electrical Team Lead is responsible for providing day-to-day technical leadership and oversight of The Client's electrical field team, including electricians, electrical technicians, apprentices and subcontractors. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, to a high standard of workmanship and in compliance with all relevant regulations, standards and company procedures. The Electrical Team Lead will act as the primary technical escalation point for electrical fault finding, problem solving and quality assurance while supporting the development and mentoring of apprentices and junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to electricians, technicians and apprentices.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex electrical faults and technical issues.
  • Assist the team in diagnosing and resolving challenging electrical and control system faults.
  • Support the development of technical capability across the electrical team.
  • Mentor apprentices and assist with trade training and competency development.
  • Conduct quality inspections and audits of completed work.
  • Ensure electrical work is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all electrical activities.
Team Management & Quality Assurance
  • Oversee the quality of workmanship delivered by the electrical team.
  • Ensure all electrical maintenance, repairs and installations meet client and company expectations.
  • Identify recurring faults and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with workload planning and coordination alongside the Operations Manager and Scheduler.
  • Support performance management through coaching, training and development.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance documentation, testing records and certification requirements.
Electrical Maintenance & Projects
  • Perform electrical maintenance, repairs and installations when required.
  • Support preventative and reactive maintenance activities across client sites.
  • Assist with electrical upgrades, renewals and project work.
  • Undertake testing, commissioning and fault finding of electrical systems.
  • Support emergency callouts and critical fault response activities.
UPS & Critical Power Systems
  • Oversee maintenance and fault diagnosis of UPS systems and associated battery systems.
  • Perform battery testing, load testing and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support relating to critical power infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of UPS technologies and manufacturer requirements.

Strong commercial awareness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with suppliers and stakeholders will be viewed favourably.
