Job summary

Omexom New Zealand is seeking an Electrical Fitter to support our Distribution team in Albany. You will perform high voltage maintenance and install substations, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

A trade qualification is required, with hands-on HV experience and a commitment to reliable, quality work. The role is full-time with a guaranteed 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, and may include standby roster duties.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as electrician or electrical fitter.
• Hands-on experience in substations and HV electrical work to industry standards.
• Knowledge of current regulatory requirements for electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV maintenance and construction work to client specs.
• Identify unscheduled work to keep client equipment maintained.
• Respond to emergency fault breakdowns within planned response times.
• Install substation and HV equipment per instructions and standards.
• Ensure reliability and performance by completing projects on time.

• Monday – Friday and may be required to participate in a standby roster

About the Role

Are you passionate about working in the energy sector and ready to make a real impact? We’re looking for a Electrical Fitter to support our Distribution team. In this role, you’ll provide an electrical trade’s service to Omexom, covering the full range of electrical and substations services expected of a qualified electrical fitter.

• Performing high voltage maintenance and construction work to client specifications.
• Identifying unscheduled work to ensure that client equipment is fully maintained.
• Responding to emergency fault breakdown work within planned response times.
• Installing substation and other high voltage equipment, as per job instructions and specifications, meeting current regulations and standards.
• Ensuring optimal reliability and performance of the client’s plant and equipment by completing projects and maintenance work on time and to requirement.

Qualifications and Skills

• Trade qualification as electrician or electrical fitter.
• Hands-on experience in substations and other high voltage electrical work to industry standards.
• A thorough knowledge of current regulatory and industry requirements pertaining to the carrying out of all prescribed electrical work.
