Job summary

MainPower is seeking an Electrical Fitter/Electrician to join the Technical Services workshop team in Christchurch. You will construct, install, and maintain distribution network equipment and infrastructure, collaborating with workshop and technician teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions that meet customer and network requirements.

The role requires NZ Registered Electrician status, a Class 2 license, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Electrician with relevant industry experience.
• Class 2 Driver’s license (additional endorsements advantageous).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and drawings.
• Commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Construct, install, and maintain substations, switchgear, kiosks, and electrical equipment.
• Undertake testing, commissioning, fault finding, and repairs on HV & LV installations.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
• Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and reliable condition.
• Actively contribute to health and safety practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

As an Electrical Fitter/Electrician, you will support the Technical Services workshop team by constructing, installing, and maintaining distribution network equipment and infrastructure. Additionally, you will bring:

• NZ Registered Electrician with relevant industry experience
• Minimum Class 2 driver’s licence (additional endorsements advantageous)

• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings
• A commitment to health, safety, and continuous improvement
