Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer for on-site support around Queenstown and surrounding regions. You will install, commission, maintain, and repair complex electrical and electronic systems, traveling to customer sites as needed.

The role demands strong diagnostic skills, fault finding, and the ability to train customer personnel. You will generate service reports, manage spare parts, and uphold safety regulations while delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in field service or similar, industrial equipment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical/electronic/control systems.
• Willingness to travel regionally and beyond; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and start-up new electrical equipment and systems at customer sites per manufacturer specs.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and diagnostic testing on electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults, hardware and software issues on complex machinery.
• Provide expert technical assistance and support to customers; resolve operational problems.
• Develop and deliver technical training to customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Generate detailed service reports with diagnosis, work performed, and future recommendations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure tools and equipment are available for service calls.
• Maintain up-to-date customer records and service history.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies on site.
• Contribute to product improvement by feedback to engineering.

About the Role

Our client, a leading manufacturer of specialized industrial equipment, is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Electrical Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support and services across their diverse client base in and around Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role requires extensive travel to customer sites to install, commission, maintain, and repair complex electrical and electronic systems associated with the company's products. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and start-up new electrical equipment and systems at customer sites according to manufacturer specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.


• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or in a similar hands-on technical support role, preferably with industrial equipment.


• Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical, electronic, and control systems.


• Strong understanding of PLC, HMI, and industrial automation principles.


• Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.


• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


• Strong customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.


• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region and occasionally beyond.


• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.


• Knowledge of specific product lines or industry sectors serviced by the company is a significant advantage.
