Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for mining equipment, crushing plants, conveyor systems, and other processing facilities.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring schedules, and control panel layouts.
• Select appropriate electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, motors, variable speed drives (VSDs), and instrumentation.
• Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant mining safety regulations, national electrical codes, and industry standards (e.g., SANS, IEC).
• Apply knowledge of hazardous area electrical installations (Ex) and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical systems seamlessly.
• Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, and installation work.
• Assist with site investigations, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven experience with motor control centers (MCCs), VSD applications, and industrial automation.
• Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
