Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of plant and mobile equipment near Queenstown, NZ. You will lead a skilled team, manage schedules, ensure safety, and optimize equipment reliability to minimise downtime.

The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, at least 5 years in a supervisory role within heavy equipment maintenance, and knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems used in mining machinery.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of all plant and mobile equipment at their operations near Queenstown . This crucial role ensures the optimal functioning and longevity of mining machinery, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage maintenance schedules, ensure safety protocols are followed, and control spare parts inventory. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, proven leadership skills, and a deep understanding of heavy equipment maintenance within the mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and fitters.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all mining equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with company standards and regulations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems with plant and mobile equipment.
• Manage spare parts inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stock control.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for the maintenance team.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and generate reports on equipment status and repair costs.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in the mining industry .
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, electrical systems, and heavy earthmoving machinery.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is advantageous.
