Job summary

Mainland Driving School in Christchurch is seeking a full-time trainer to deliver NZQA- and NZTA-approved driver training, licensing and heavy vehicle courses. The role suits an NZTA-endorsed ('I') driver trainer or assessor, or someone with solid hands-on experience in the road transport industry.

You will conduct classroom theory, on-road training, maintain accurate records, and contribute to improving training programmes as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Deliver NZQA- and NZTA-approved driver training, licensing and heavy vehicle courses.
• Deliver theory training in classroom and practical on-road training.
• Mentor students from diverse backgrounds and adapt to learners’ needs.
• Maintain immaculate training records ensuring NZQA/NZTA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Delivering theory training in the classroom — road rules, licensing requirements, vehicle operation and industry compliance
• Delivering practical, on-road training and assessment, working one-on-one and in small groups
• Teaching and mentoring students from many different backgrounds, ages and experience levels, adapting your approach to suit each learner
• Keeping training records and assessment paperwork immaculate and fully compliant with NZQA and NZTA standards
• Helping shape and improve our training programmes as part of a close-knit, supportive team
