Job summary

EnviroNZ in Dunedin is seeking an Operations Trainer to deliver practical training, coaching and evaluations across the Otago region. You will help ensure drivers and operators are competent, compliant with NZTA rules and company procedures, and aligned with safe operating practices.

You will coordinate training, conduct evaluations at key milestones, and provide field coaching to improve safety and performance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Driver instructor and assessor qualifications, or the ability to achieve them.
• An Adult Learning or Workplace Training qualification, or the ability to achieve one.
• Significant driving and/or transport industry experience
• Experience training and coaching drivers
• Strong knowledge of NZTA rules, regulations and transport legislation
• Knowledge of defensive driving and heavy vehicles
• Experience working across multiple sites
• Clear communication and good organisational skills

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver driver and operator training across Otago
• Conduct pre-employment, pre-solo and 12-month evaluations
• Provide in-field coaching and feedback
• Onboard new Drivers and Operators and deliver refresher training
• Work with Managers to plan training and evaluation schedules
• Promote driver safety and compliance, including worktime, logbooks and pre-start checks
• Retrain and re-evaluate drivers following accidents or near hits
• Participate in branch tailgates and provide driver and transport advice
• Maintain accurate training and evaluation records
• Identify trends and improvement opportunities using evaluation and operational data
• Provide practical advice on driver safety, compliance and training
