Job summary

Downer in Waipawa is seeking an experienced Class 5 Driver Operator to transport plant and equipment and support a busy pavement maintenance crew.

You will operate loaders, excavators, rollers and other heavy machinery, follow project plans, and stay safety-focused while assisting with road maintenance and renewals across the region.

Qualifications

• Full Class 5 Driver Licence required.
• Current W, T & R Endorsements (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) required.
• Experience transporting plant and equipment on a transporter.
• Proven experience operating heavy machinery within civil or road maintenance.
• Experience working as an active member of a pavement crew.
• Strong focus on Safety and Quality.
• Good planning skills and problem solving.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• High level of physical fitness for manual tasks.
• Positive, can-do attitude.

Our crew in Waipawa are seeking an experienced Driver Operator to join our work whānau, deliver to project plans, and get home safely at the end of each day.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for transporting plant and equipment, operating machinery, and supporting a busy pavement maintenance crew across the region. You'll safely operate, navigate, and care for a range of equipment, including loaders, excavators, rollers, and other heavy machinery while assisting with road maintenance and construction activities.

You'll play an active role within the pavement crew, contributing to the successful delivery of maintenance and renewal projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

You will have experience in roading, pavement maintenance, earthmoving, or civil construction. We would also really value:

• Full Class 5 Driver Licence
