Downer is seeking a Driver Operator to safely operate plant and equipment on site in Gisborne. This hands-on role focuses on safety, accuracy, and teamwork to ensure production milestones are met.

You will perform pre-inspections, assist with routine servicing, and maintain documentation while supporting a safety-first culture and compliant operations. The ideal candidate holds a Class 5 licence with truck/trailer experience, excavator exposure, and a commitment to reliability and hands-on work.

Qualifications

• Current Class 5 Driver Licence with truck and trailer experience.
• Experience operating excavators is advantageous.
• Strong commitment to health, safety, and Zero Harm principles.
• Ability to carry out routine plant inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a crew.
• Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to get involved in hands-on tasks.

As a Driver Operator, you'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant and equipment while supporting day-to-day production activities. You'll carry out pre-employment inspections, assist with routine servicing and maintenance, complete required documentation, and contribute to a productive and safety-focused work environment.

Working closely with your crew and site leadership, you'll play an important role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
