Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a driver to operate a range of heavy vehicles across our waste collection routes. This permanent full-time role emphasizes safety, reliability and excellent service, with in-vehicle tech for route management.

You will perform vehicle safety checks, paperwork, and work both independently and as part of a team; 40 hours per week, rostered, with competitive rates and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• A Class 4NZ licence is required.
• Moderate heavy vehicle driving experience is required.
• Ability to work confidently on your own and as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
• Mechanical aptitude and care for equipment.
• Waste industry experience is a bonus, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Collect, transport, and dispose of waste and recyclables.
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance.

About the role

Our drivers are the faces of WM New Zealand in the community, and we're looking for people who take pride in their work and enjoy the independence of being out on the road.
This is a permanent, full-time role in an essential service industry where reliability, teamwork, and care for safety really matter.

As a Driver, you will be responsible for operating a vehicle and equipment on board to ensure a safe and timely collection of service. You'll also be required to keep accurate records and paperwork and undertake vehicle safety checks. You will also be driving a range of vehicles including front loaders, sideload and rear load trucks.

Qualifications

About you

At times there may be some heavy lifting so you will need to have a reasonable level of fitness. From previous experience, you'll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you'll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely.
