Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a Driver for permanent, full-time work. You will operate heavy vehicles and onboard equipment to ensure safe, timely collection of waste and recyclables, while maintaining records and performing safety checks. The role requires independence, teamwork, and commitment to safety on every shift.

You will drive a range of vehicles, including front loaders and rear-load trucks, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and upholding WM's safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• A Class 4 NZ licence.
• Moderate heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Strong safety ethic and willingness to follow procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and care for equipment.
• Waste industry experience is a bonus, but not essential.

About the role

Our drivers are the faces of WM New Zealand in the community, and we're looking for people who take pride in their work and enjoy the independence of being out on the road.

This is a permanent, full-time role in an essential service industry where reliability, teamwork, and care for safety really matter.

As a Driver, you will be responsible for operating a vehicle and equipment on board to ensure a safe and timely collection of service. You'll also be required to keep accurate records and paperwork and undertake vehicle safety checks. You will also be driving a range of vehicles including front loaders, sideload and rear load trucks.

About you

At times there may be some heavy lifting so you will need to have a reasonable level of fitness. From previous experience, you'll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you'll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely.

Hours: 40 hours per week, rostered
