Job summary

NUD EnviroWorks in Whangārei is seeking a Directional Driller / Locator to safely operate horizontal directional drilling equipment for underground utility installations and to ensure the drill path and project specifications are met.

You will work closely with a skilled crew on a range of civil and underground projects, perform routine checks and basic maintenance, and start immediately for the right person in a full-time on-site role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment.
• Ability to read plans and site information to determine bore paths.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Immediate start for the right person.
• Full-time work with a local Whangārei civil contractor.
• Hands-on, practical attitude to field drilling operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and control horizontal directional drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Set up and monitor drilling operations to achieve the required drill path and project specifications.
• Use plans, drawings and site information to determine and achieve the required bore path.
• Carry out locating and monitor drilling direction, depth and progress throughout the job.
• Work closely with the drilling crew, locator and site supervisor to ensure jobs are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with the crew throughout drilling operations.
• Conduct daily pre-start checks and routine inspections of drilling equipment.
• Carry out basic equipment maintenance, cleaning, lubrication and refuelling as required.
• Identify and troubleshoot operational issues and communicate any problems promptly.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe work environment.
