Job summary

Jora New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an experienced Directional Drill Operator for a full-time permanent position. The successful candidate will operate drilling machinery to install underground utilities, ensuring safety and compliance throughout all operations.

The role requires at least 1 year of drilling experience, a Class 1 license, and the ability to pass drug/alcohol testing. Weekend work may be required; competitive hourly pay awaits the right candidate.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of drilling experience.
• Class 1 driver's license or international equivalent.
• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• WTR endorsement preferred.
• Familiar with underground services.
• Able to write logs, safety checklists and incident reports.
• Smartphone savvy.
• Basic first aid qualifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery for installation of underground utilities and conduits (fibre, power, water, construction).
• Ensure public safety and protect underground facilities.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE.
• Set up and tidy worksites, including traffic/pedestrian control.
• Read utility locates and risk assessments before starting work.
• Ensure permits/plans are valid on site and inspect progress against specs.
• Operate vehicles and equipment from trucks to other gear.
• Maintain drills and equipment; note major repairs.
• Lead and assist team as required.
• Complete risk assessments before, during, and after work.
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality guidelines.
