Job summary

The Department of Internal Affairs is seeking a DevOps Engineer to lead Azure platform engineering for the CCMS platform in Wellington. You will design and implement Azure-based solutions, automation, and reliable cloud services, while guiding automation projects and developing scalable CI/CD pipelines.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across government teams, bring a continuous improvement mindset, and mentor others to raise technical excellence and resilience across enterprise

The role

Join the Department of Internal Affairs and play a key role in supporting critical digital services that New Zealanders rely on every day. As a DevOps Engineer you'll lead the delivery of Azure platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, integration services, and operational reliability for the CCMS platform. Working in a highly skilled team, you'll design and build Azure-based solutions, develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, implement infrastructure as code, improve observability and monitoring, and provide technical leadership across complex enterprise environments.

We're looking for an experienced DevOps professional with strong Azure engineering expertise, hands‑on development skills (C#, Python or similar), and a passion for automation and continuous improvement.
