Statistics New Zealand is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer in Wellington to shape a secure, resilient cloud environment. The role combines cloud engineering, platform operations, automation, security, and leadership across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Purview, and related services.

The engineer will collaborate with security and architecture teams, provide hands-on expertise, mentor others, and contribute to platform strategy and roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Proven experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 platforms and services.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services in a large or complex environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, identity management, authentication, and access control.
• Experience implementing cloud security, governance, and compliance controls.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, particularly PowerShell.
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud platforms and services.
• Ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
