Pukeoware School in the Auckland region is seeking an exceptional educational leader to join us as Deputy Principal. The role blends teaching with strategic leadership, overseeing our Middle and Senior Syndicates and Learning Support (SENCO/LSC).

As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will champion literacy and numeracy, build strong relationships with staff, whānau, and the wider rural community, and drive school improvement through evidence-based practice.

Qualifications

  • Strong curriculum leadership, particularly in literacy and mathematics
  • Experience in teaching using Maths Acceleration and ALL (Accelerated Learning in Literacy) PLD
  • High expectations for learner achievement and teaching excellence
  • Excellent organisation, efficiency and ability to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong critical thinking with evidence-informed decision making
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, whānau and the wider community
  • Experience leading Learning Support (LSC and SENCO roles) and collaborating with external agencies
  • Collaborates effectively as part of a team
  • Committed to equitable outcomes and accelerating progress for all learners
  • Previous leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead our Middle and Senior Syndicates and oversee Learning Support programmes as SENCO/LSC
  • Contribute to strategic leadership of the school as a Deputy Principal
  • Combine teaching duties with management of three permanent units (with potential for more)
  • Support and coach teachers to improve practice and learner outcomes
  • Work with staff, whānau and external agencies to achieve positive learner outcomes

We are seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our school as Deputy Principal. As a proud rural school, we are part of a supportive and connected community where relationships matter and every learner is known and valued.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the successful applicant will contribute to the strategic leadership of the school, lead our Middle and Senior Syndicates, and oversee our Learning Support programme as SENCO/LSC.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong curriculum leadership, particularly in literacy and mathematics
  • Has experience in teaching using, or knowledge of, Maths Acceleration and ALL (Accelerated Learning in Literacy) PLD (desirable but not essential)
  • Holds high expectations for learner achievement, teaching excellence, and continuous improvement

  • Has experience in, or a strong commitment to, leading Learning Support (LSC and SENCO roles) and working collaboratively with staff, whānau, and external agencies to achieve positive outcomes for learners
  • Works collaboratively and contributes positively as a member of a team
  • Is committed to equitable outcomes and accelerating progress for all learners
  • Has previous leadership experience

The position includes a teaching component and 3 permanent management units, with the possibility of additional fixed-term units for the right applicant.
