Job summary

Putāruru Primary School invites applications for a Deputy Principal 2—Learning Support and Inclusion. This full-time permanent role focuses on school-wide inclusive education, ORS oversight, and building learning-support systems, with opportunities to coach staff and strengthen partnerships with whānau and agencies.

The successful applicant will lead learning-support pathways, monitor progress, and contribute to strategic leadership alongside the Principal. Term 1, 2027 start is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a school setting.
• Experience implementing inclusive education and learning-support strategies.
• Ability to collaborate with kaiako, whānau and agencies.
• Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead school-wide inclusion and learning-support strategy development.
• Oversee ORS and the Learning Register processes.
• Manage learning-support funding and applications.
• Foster partnerships with Ministry, agencies and whānau.
• Coordinate referrals and learning-support pathways.
• Coach teachers and build capability in learning-support practices.
• Monitor and report on learning-support outcomes.

Putāruru Primary School is restructuring our leadership team for 2027, creating an exciting opportunity to appoint 2 Deputy Principals with distinct portfolios, shared leadership responsibility and our tamariki firmly at the centre.

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative and inclusive leader for DP2 – Learning Support & Inclusion.

Key areas of leadership include:

• school-wide inclusive education strategy and systems
• oversight of ORS and the Learning Register
• learning support administration, funding and applications
• Ministry, agency and whānau partnerships
• coordination of referrals and learning support pathways
• instructional coaching and building teacher capability
• learning support monitoring and reporting.

Our LSC will have a school-wide focus, working alongside kaiako to strengthen inclusive classroom practice, while DP2 retains strategic oversight of learning support systems, ORS and the Learning Register.

We are looking for someone who believes deeply in the potential of every learner, can navigate complex learning needs and systems, builds strong relationships with whānau and agencies, and is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive, inclusive practice.

Both DPs will contribute to whole-school strategic leadership, support the day-to-day leadership of their respective team and have the capability to act as Principal when required.
