Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking an Electrical Department Manager to lead the Wellington team in delivering maintenance contracts across the region. You will oversee street lighting, cabling, and ITS projects while ensuring safe, timely delivery and strong client relationships.

The role requires a Registered Electrician with an EWRB licence, 5+ years of electrician experience, and a driver’s licence. You will drive training, cost estimation, and forward workload planning.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Electrician with a current practising licence (EWRB)
• Minimum 5+ years' experience as an electrician
• Hold a Class 1 full driver’s licence
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and their integration
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
• Experience delivering training to electrical/operational staff
• Financial and business acumen; pricing and tendering experience

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of electricians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and overseeing their work
• Pricing of work and preparation of tenders/quotes/estimates
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and timelines
• Secure forward workload to maintain the department and meet targets
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, promoting a culture of safety among the team
• Lead and champion Fulton Hogan best practices, including work procedures, HSE and quality standards
• Develop and deliver training sessions for electrical and operational staff

We have a unique opportunity for an Electrical Department Manager to lead our Wellington team. You’ll oversee maintenance contracts for Local Bodies, Councils, and other regional authorities, as well as medium-scale greenfield and brownfield projects across the Greater Wellington region.

You’ll lead teams delivering electrical work across highways and city streets, including street lighting, pole replacement, cabling, fittings, and ITS. This is a hands-on leadership role where strong relationships, safe delivery, and good work matter.

• Lead a team of electricians, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and overseeing their work
• Pricing of work and preparation of tenders/quotes/estimates
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project requirements and timelines

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
• Experience in developing and leading training sessions for electrical and operational staff
• Financial and business acumen
• Pricing and tendering experience
